OUR STORY

A program 10 years in the making. Backed by extensive experience & knowledge of prospect selection, puppy raising, and strong public obedience skills to train dogs to be placed a variety of needs. Currently the ECSD program is focused on producing:

  • Diabetic alert dogs for children & adults

  • Heart-rate alert dogs for adults

  • Physical mobility assistance dogs for adults

  • Psychiatric service dogs for veterans

  • Therapeutic intervention dogs to work alongside social workers or occupational therapists in a clinical setting.

ECSD is not currently placing dogs for other scent-based alert or psychiatric needs.

A core ECSD commitment is to incorporate dogs from the shelter system into our own training program. The goal is to find our first shelter/rescue prospect in early 2018. Being able to pull suitable prospects requires well-trained behavior experts who work or volunteer at high-intake physical Animal Shelters. That network takes time to build. While a primary goal of ECSD is to be able to use dogs pulled from the shelter system, using puppies from carefully selected breeding programs will allow us to place more dogs than relying on the shelter/rescue population alone.
